Bio

Drone racing has been Mayans' passion for as long as he can remember... As a child, he built drones with his father - not focused on competition in those early stages, but dreaming about the excitement of flying, pushing limits, and enjoying the process of creating something with their own hands, together. "That's where the fire started" he explains.

The racing became more serious from 2018 when he realised that FPV wasn't just something he did for fun, he had a real talent. By 2019, aged 14, he represented Spain at the Drone Racing World Championship in China, which made a huge impression: "Imagine being a kid from a tiny island like Formentera and suddenly you’re on the world stage, going head-to-head with the best pilots in the world. It was the moment I realised this wasn’t just a hobby for me—it was my life. Competing against the best, meeting pilots from all over the world, and feeling that energy... I knew I had to keep going, keep improving."

Coming from a small island where drone racing is not a mainstream sport, his journey has not been easy - each step forward has been a huge effort, from finding sponsors, to traveling and balancing training with school. But in his own words, "If you love something enough, you make it happen. And I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything."

And what is it, that he loves about this sport? "The speed, the adrenaline, that moment when everything clicks, and you feel like you’re not just controlling the drone—you are the drone. When you're flying at over 160 km/h through a tight course, threading the needle through impossible gaps, there’s no time to think—just pure instinct. It’s the closest thing to being a fighter pilot in a sci-fi movie, and it’s absolutely addictive."

Other activities

Outside of being a drone pilot, Mayans is a student at EDEM Escuela de Empresarios in Valencia, where he studies Business Engineering, the perfect fit for his fascination with technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, with a lot of topics directly relating to drone racing.

He is also involved in the FPV community, mentoring new pilots, sharing insights and exploring potential business ideas related to drones. He says, "Maybe one day, I won’t just be racing drones—I’ll be designing the next generation of them."

THE World Games 2025

What are your goals for this competition?
"My goal is clear: fight for the podium and compete at my absolute best. Beyond results, I want to showcase my skills on the world stage, represent Spain with pride, and prove that I belong among the best. Every second counts, and I’m ready to give it everything."

What is your training schedule for the event?
"Balancing studies with training is intense, but I manage around 20-25 hours per week. I split my time between simulator drills for reflexes, real-world flying for precision and speed, and tuning my gear for peak performance. It’s all about efficiency, making every session count.

What are you expecting to experience at The World Games this year?
"I see The World Games 2025 as a chance to test myself at the highest level. I expect intense competition, high-pressure moments, and the need to adapt quickly. My goal is to fly smart, stay consistent, and push my limits, but also to enjoy the experience, connect with other top pilots, and grow as both an athlete and a person. No matter what happens, I want to walk away knowing I gave it my all."
